PIR Light Controller IC for 2 and 3 Wire Applications with IL-DimmerTM Function

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The E910.84 integrated circuit is a fully automatic PIR motion sensor light controller. It is the ideal solution for motion sensing applications where only the LIVE and the RETURN wires are present. The controller can also be used for applications where LIVE, NEUTRAL and a SWITCHED LIVE is available. Both resistive and inductive loads can be dimmed using the E910.84 in 2 and 3 wire modes.

The integrated circuit extracts its power directly from the mains supply without using an external transformer or bridge rectifier.

A conventional PIR sensor connects directly to the PIRIN input. All the necessary analog signal processing and filtering are incorporated in the chip, thereby reducing the external component count.

For increased comfort, the light is switched ON or OFF softly (i.e. fading). Five operational parameters - motion detection sensitivity, light on-time, light fade time, mains toggle mode and a day-night (dark) threshold - are adjustable using external resistors.

Behavior of the light dimming is separated in to two modes; switch from Off To Set Brightness (OTSB) or switch from Set brightness To Full Brightness (STFB). The two modes are selected by applying a specific voltage on the TOG input.

The E910.84 combines features from the M2000C and the M2008A into a single IC, that can be used for both applications.
